Pastor Roundtree and his wife Marcy have taken great steps in helping families with the dream of homeownership in Cedar Rapids.
The program called 100 in 24 is geared towards helping 100 families get into homes in 24 months. They recently graduated their first round of participants with great success. All their participants have got into or will be very shortly in their new homes.
The initiative focuses on 3 key factors.
1. Financial Literacy - Understanding debt, both good and bad. Better understanding of expenses and focusing on having a plan and budget.
2. Credit rebuilding - understanding the path to better credit by showing the importance of wise credit usage and paying on time.
3. "Go get that home" - after the steps are set up it's time to find that next home. Then understanding the steps for keeping and maintaining it and the value it builds, including the ongoing costs, tax benefits, and equity gains.
When we first saw this a few months back we knew this was going to be a great program to help families find and obtain their dream of home ownership. People we've encountered have the realization that homeownership is something that is obtainable.
